NICCA is proud to recognize the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation

as our CCDF Grantee and NICCA Member of the Month! A long-standing NICCA member and dedicated CCDF grantee, the Yakama Nation continues to lead with heart, vision, and cultural pride in all they do for children and families.
Located in the heart of central Washington, the Yakama Nation is home to a rich cultural legacy and a community deeply committed to its future generations. A shining example of that commitment is their CCDF Program, which is hosting the YN CCDF Summer Culture & Language Camp—a joyful, immersive experience for children ages 3–12, running from June 18 through August 13 at White Swan YN Head Start.

Held Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, the camp offers a full day of Yakama language learning, cultural teachings, traditional games, and exciting field trips. It’s a space where children can grow, explore, and connect with their roots—all while having a summer full of fun.
This camp isn’t just about keeping kids busy—it’s about keeping culture alive. It reflects the power of Tribal child care programs to create meaningful experiences grounded in community values and Indigenous knowledge. And with limited transportation available, the program is made even more accessible to families.
We’re honored to celebrate the Yakama Nation this month and highlight the incredible work they’re doing to uplift children through culture, language, and love. Programs like this remind us why our work matters—and why Tribal-led solutions are so powerful.
Way to go, Yakama Nation!
