About the Event

NICCA’s Tribal Child Care Study Tour offers a unique opportunity to experience Tribal child care programs in action. Join us this January in Oklahoma for a two-day, small-group learning journey exploring how Tribal Nations are leading with culture, innovation, and community in early childhood care and education.

Over the course of the tour, participants will visit several Tribal child care programs including those of the Modoc Nation, Wyandotte Nation, Seneca-Cayuga, Eastern Shawnee, Peoria, Miami, and Quapaw Nations. Each stop will include guided tours, conversations with program leaders, and reflection sessions centered on Tribal approaches that strengthen early learning and family engagement.

The tour will begin and end each day at the Northeastern Tribal Health System in Miami, Oklahoma, which will serve as our base camp. Two lunches will be provided during the tour. Please note that lodging is not included, and participants will need to provide their own transportation to follow along with the group from site to site.

This experience is open to anyone interested in learning from Tribal programs and gaining a deeper understanding of the diverse ways communities are supporting Native children and families. Download the agenda
