About the Event

Hosted by the National Indian Child Care Association and the National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC)

Join us for our quarterly Indigenous Caucus virtual calls, a series of events designed to support and empower Indigenous child care providers across the United States. These calls are an invaluable opportunity for Tribal child care providers, stakeholders, and those serving American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian children to connect, learn, and grow together.

Purpose and Audience. The quarterly virtual calls aim to:

  • Foster Community and Connection: Create a supportive network among Indigenous child care providers and those serving Native children.

  • Strengthen Capacity: Enhance the ability of providers to deliver high-quality, culturally relevant care.

  • Facilitate Discussions: Address challenges and opportunities unique to serving Native children and families, providing actionable recommendations for improvement.

Agenda. Each virtual call follows a structured agenda to ensure comprehensive coverage of relevant topics:

  1. Welcome & Introductions: Participants introduce themselves and share their connection to Tribal child care.

  2. General Updates from the Field of Child Care: Overview of recent trends, challenges, and policies impacting family child care providers.

  3. Updates on Tribal Child Care: Key developments, funding opportunities, and policies affecting Indigenous communities.

  4. Discussion on Current Issues: Open forum for participants to share challenges and discuss potential solutions.

  5. Support and Resources: Dialogue on how NICCA, NAFCC, and fellow members can support participants' programs.

  6. What’s Happening: Sharing of opportunities such as resource sharing, advocacy, conferences, and webinars.

  7. Evaluation: Participants provide feedback to improve future events.

  8. Closing Remarks: Announcements of upcoming meeting dates and times.
