How To Talk with Infants and Toddlers to Build Receptive and Expressive Language Development by Cara Tyrrell, M.Ed.

About this webinar

In this exciting webinar you will learn the elements of healthy receptive and expressive language development and explore the five modes of early communication between adults and children. Join Collaborative Parenting Coach and the founder of Core4Parenting, Cara Tyrrell, M.Ed. to learn how newborns, infants, and toddlers turn our words into meaning, foundational beliefs, emotional regulation and the development of social skills.

You’ll learn 10 intentional language communication strategies to build your relationships with children and learn how to use them in classroom settings. Each script starter is crafted to encourage abstract thinking and promote emotional regulation, allowing kids to practice early learning skills through interactive, engaged conversation with trusted peers and adults. You’ll gain insights on how to play with word choice, phrase length, tone, body language, and voice quality.

In this session you will learn to:

Explain the difference between receptive and expressive language for infants and toddlers.

Identify and differentiate the five components of comprehensive language delivery.

Choose intentional communication strategies with children that leave them feeling more seen, heard, and understood.
