About Leadership Intensive Retreats

The CalSAC Leadership Intensive Retreat (LIR) is a management and leadership training designed for coordinator to director level professionals in the out-of-school time field who have an aspiration for advanced leadership. Using a multicultural leadership framework, this 3-day intensive learning space will strengthen the capacity of participants to effectively lead their staff and organizations by exploring:

  • Strength-based leadership

  • Management

  • Supervision

  • Coaching

  • Personal reflection

  • Community building and networking

LIR Commitment

To fully benefit from the Leadership intensive, we ask that you participate in the entire program.

Participants commit to:

  • Fully participate in the Leadership Intensive Retreat.

  • Contribute toward to safe and trusting learning environment for yourself and your peers by respecting and honoring the need for confidentiality and differences of opinion, learning style, ethnicity, gender, age, etc.

  • Provide feedback and assessment at the end of the program

Note: Photos will be taken at the event, which CalSAC may use for publications, online or in print. By registering for this event (and unless other arrangements have been made), you are agreeing that your image may be used for this purpose.


Action Required Before the LIR

To fully prepare for the institute, we ask that you complete the following:

The following assignments will be emailed 2 weeks prior to the event:

  • Complete StrengthsFinder 2.0 Assessment and review report generated after completing assessment (bring hard/electronic copy to Institute). If you've completed this assessment within the last 2 years, we ask you to simply bring your themes to the retreat.


Additional items to bring:

  • Writing instrument

  • Notebook/note-taking materials

  • Water bottle
