What are NICCA Training Institutes and who should attend?
NICCA Training Institutes are intensive learning opportunities for early childhood professionals serving American Indian Tribes and Alaska Native Villages. They bring together leaders, administrators, staff, teachers, and providers who are committed to improving programs serving Tribal children, families, and communities for two days of focused educational sessions. These sessions help grow knowledge and leadership among the individuals who care for our most precious resource -- our children.
Where are the 2020 Training Institutes taking place and where can I stay?
The 2020 Training Institutes will cover a variety of topics across the U.S.
The Policies & Procedures Training Institute will be held on February 19-20, 2020, in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Tuscany Suites and Casino, 255 East Flamingo Rd. Las Vegas, Nevada 89169.
The Brain Development Training Institute is scheduled to be held in April 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This Institute is in partnership with an early childhood program and the exact date and location has not been determined.
The Social-Emotional Development Training Institute is scheduled to be held in August 2020 near Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This Institute is in partnership with an early childhood program and the exact date and location has not yet been determined.
How can I get my program and/or Tribe to sponsor my attendance?
Training Institutes are designed to provide in-depth learning opportunities to address the various issues that Tribal early childhood programs face and to help grow early childhood services all across Indian Country. To help you advocate for your need to attend, we have written a justification letter you can share with your leadership to make your case for attendance. You can download the letter here.
What is the dress code?
Attendees wear varied attire; however, we recommend business casual clothing with a sweater and comfortable shoes for long days of consecutive sessions and traversing the venue area.
Is there anything else I should know about the event?
Registration and attendance at, or participation in NICCA events constitutes an agreement by the registrants to allow NICCA to use and distribute (both now and in the future) the registrants or attendee’s image or voice, in photographs, video, electronic reproductions, and audio of such events and activities.
How much does conference registration cost?
We strive to make NICCA events affordable for all programs, staff, and providers. We give special rates to members and for those who register early. We tailor our registration rates to the events.
$500 member rate / $600 non-member rate for teams of 3 before January 3, 2019.
$600 member rate / $700 non-member rate for teams of 3 beginning on January 4, 2019.
Each additional team member is $120.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that sometimes plans change. Our cancellation policy is as follows:
December 20 - January 20: 60% cancellation fee
After January 20: No refund
How can I register?
Do I have to send multiple people?
While it is not required to send a team from your program, it is highly encouraged. Your policies and procedures will best meet the needs of your program if key members of your staff are an integral part of developing them. More and better ideas are spurred from group discussion and, while experts will be by your side to support and guide you, no one will know your program better than your own staff. NICCA recommends you bring at least three people with you to support this effort.

Where can I find conference materials?
Some facilitators will make worksheets and resources available before the start of the conference, while others may choose to share slides and other downloads after the conference has concluded. All available materials will be posted to the program page under each corresponding session.
